Artist Statement

Currently, my subject matter celebrates the divine feminine and the natural world.

This is an exploration of divine energy, spirituality, the surreal, nature and the psyche through the feminine gaze. Owning my femininity is self-empowerment, and I use it to visualise life's multifaceted nature. My art is a narrative about personal, feminine experiences expressed through spiritual allegories and the body to connect to the Divine and to nature, the source of creation and healing. I draw my ideas from dreams and the deepest emotions with intuition as the guide.

I rarely start work with a definitive plan, rather I trust the process to create a free flow of patterns, organic shapes and colours. Within this “chaos” there is a union of consciousness and the unknown, creativity and transformation. These female figures are reflective of my own maturation process and spiritual journey, as well as the stories from the women in my life, developing through life experiences, growing through the dark and stepping into the light.

Rooted in the earth, water, fire, air and the ether, goddess like figures merge and rise up from these richly textured elements of nature as human/nature hybrid forms that break down boundaries between humans and nature. Encompassing the earth in organic shapes, overlays of leaves, branches, vines, and root systems, that represent veins and arteries to express the connection between humans and nature. They evolve through an additive and subtractive process of countless multicoloured layers that are portrayed in poses of honouring self-acceptance, healing trauma and celebrating rituals, that honour their roots by transforming them as they dwell in a spacious atmosphere of saturated colours and ethereal light.

An abundance of intricate patterns, ornate symbolic flora and fauna detail, dotting in the background and splattering in the foreground that fill the fields and the atmosphere around them.

Universal, ancient symbols like spirals and circles both surround and embody them to represent how the energy of the human spirit and the environment are intertwined and connected as a whole.

Birthing these works has been a significant part of my personal transformation towards empowerment, intuition, authenticity, self-love and self-acceptance as they represent sacred space for me. These paintings are a reflection of my own spiritual journey and divine intervention. Feminine energy is collaborative, fluid, creative, and intuitive. These natural visual rhythms fill me with a sense of awe, wonder and serenity. I feel grounded in them and connected to Mother Earth.

My work celebrates the divine feminine energy within all of us, regardless of our gender identities. Our bodies are our own and we are worth worshiping!

My hope is that, through the works in “Divine Feminine”, you will see the goddess within yourself and everyone around you.
